Birkenhead site (formerly Beaufort Air Sea Equipment Ltd.)
Beaufort's involvement in the supply of safety and survival equipment to the defence and aerospace industry is legendary. With over 60 years experience, Beaufort created the original 'Mae West', the generic term for lifepreservers still in use today.
The Birkenhead site designs, manufactures and sells defence & aerospace products including submarine escape and immersion equipment, lifepreservers and liferafts. With the acquisition of ML Lifeguard in 2000, it strengthened its position as a world leader in the supply of aircrew equipment (e.g. coveralls, anti-G trousers and flight jackets) and is the lead company in the consortium that supplies this equipment for the Eurofighter aircraft.
